Blog story!

Having a blog is not a walk in the park. You have to be ready to give more then just a piece of yourself. Having a blog is being ready to open your heart and put it into words.

“Never give up. And most importantly, be true to yourself. Write from your heart, in your own voice, and about what you believe in.”
 - Louise Brown

Don’t treat your blog as an advertising platform. It can provide advertising, but it must have content before you put any ads in there. With a blog, content isn't about fact, it’s about the words that you wrote. Yes, it’s simple, wrote what you think about. Put your soul in each and every post.

“I think there's plenty of room for blogs that exist to pay the blogger, or blogs that exist to turn a profit. That's just not the kind of blog I'm writing, and I'm not the kind of blogger that could do that.”
 - Seth Godin

Earning from a blog can be done, but if you write a blog to earn a living then you’ll have to find a way to be creative and promote it all around. You have to become a reference in what you write and talk about.

“I'm not sure blogs are necessarily the best place to get a pulse on anything. People want to blog for a variety of reasons, and that may or may not be representative.”
 - Steve Ballmer

When you want to get a pulse on a subject, you have to take in as many sources as you can about it. Representative or not, each blog talking about the subject you’re interested in can bring you useful information.

Myself, I like to write timeless info. I like to write without any time label. I like to write without any direct link to what is happening in the world at that moment. I like to write about a subject in a way that would be interesting in 5 or 10 years from the moment of post.

No one can become successful with a boring blog. You have to deliver good stuff if you ever want to have any success with your blog. You can fool people with one or two post, but in the long term you’ll have to prove your creativity. Don’t believe that you can hide behind some pre-created post and build an audience.

Build your blog with your own stuff. Don’t pay someone else to write your post.

Please everyone...

“Don’t try to please everyone. There are countless people who don’t want one, haven’t heard of one or actively hate it. So what?” – Seth Godin

You can’t please everyone.

There will always be someone to hate you.

If your intent is to please, then you should focus on the person you want to please and put it all in for that person. Keep your focus and go for it. When we do our best to please someone, we invest our energy to do “good”. Doing “good” is always “good” to the source.

Focus is the key to reach for your goal. Focus will be your shield to face hatred.

There will always be someone who will not agree with you. So, keep your head up
and go on. Because there will always be someone to like what you do.

It’s all about your way to look around you. If you look for haters, you’ll find them.
But if you look for likers, you’ll find them too. You have the final choice in this.

What market?

Know your market...

Giant went down because they didn't understood their markets need. Seth gave a very good example of this in his post.

Do you know your market? Really?

What makes people ticks and buy? Will they buy from you or someone else? If you can't answer those questions, then you don't know your market.

You can have the best product in a field, but if the customer think that it's not needed they'll go for something cheaper.

There's also the need for something to be useful. Let's look at the pocket knife with the most tools on it.
Now, try to put it in your pocket...   This is a joke of $2000 dollars.

There's a lot of examples you can find all around you. Product that has find their way onto the market and aren't selling as the creator would have expected.

Before you start selling something, do your best to understand your market. Find something that is needed and fill that need.

Do you have something to say?

When I don't have a lot of inspiration for my new post, I like to visit blog. Sometimes, I read a post that give me the drive to write my own post. But sometimes, I come across some very sad blog. There's too much blog that are just advertising board. I know, people want to promote and find new referral, but you do this at the expense of new follower and maybe referral on your blog. People join people, not business. If you build your reputation on good blog post, people will like you and join what you are promoting because it's you. So, if you get removed from the bookmarks because you only advertise on your blog, then it will be all your fault.

So, here's some blog that I like to read because they have something to say. :)

Entrepreneurship Blog by Mike Michalowicz. Mike has wrote two good books on building your own business. He's a straight talking guy that will always say what he thinks is the best. He post a lot, and on a lot of interesting subject. A must if you are into business.

Tom Wacker dot com by Tom Wacker. Tom have he's own way in presenting things. He wrote a lot and each of his post are filled with lots of great contents. I visit his blog many times a week, even if I'm not looking for a subject.

Seth's Blog by Seth Godin. Seth is working hard to write a post each day. Lot's of great stuff here.

Geri's thoughts by Geri Gerstner. Geri is working hard to make good post. And some of them are really good.

The Jon Olson Project by Jon Olson. This is the second blog by Jon. This one is more personal then the Hit Exchange News.

The Tim Linden Blog by Tim Linden. Tim talks about stuff from his business and what ever he want to. I like to read his blog.

Hit Exchange News by Jon Olson. Jon wrote some great post. Not very often, but really good in content.

I'm bringing nerdy back by Justin Ledvina. This blog is really good. Lot's of good stuff. But post are rare...

Force The Blog by Mike Allen's. Mike hasn't wrote a new post in more then a month. I miss his unique way to present idea. I miss your post Mike. :)

I read a lot of blog, but most of them are only advertising blog with no content.
